Cookie policy – Nzesportsbets

Readers of Nzesportsbets meet only a few technical tools, and this policy lists them, gives their purposes and explains how they are refused or altered. A cookie is a small text file stored by a browser on a device; local and session storage entries and counting pixels work similarly.

Governing law

Where cookies and similar tools collect personal information, the Privacy Act 2020 applies through its information privacy principles (section 22). Collection must have a lawful purpose linked to operating the site (IPP 1), and the person is told what is collected and why (IPP 3). Reasonable security safeguards cover the information (IPP 5), retention is limited to what is needed (IPP 9), and disclosure outside New Zealand follows IPP 12. A banner choice may be changed at any time.

Files set without a choice

Strictly necessary files keep the site dependable: they hold a session, distribute load among servers, protect forms from abuse and record the cookie choice. No separate choice is offered for them. Session files end when the browser is closed, and the saved choice lasts no longer than twelve months.

Functional files recall settings such as the comparison tables opened last; analytics files count page views and show which pages are read, helping the content improve. A choice in the banner must come first. IP addresses are shortened for analysis, and no profile follows behaviour across sites.

Outside services

Embedded videos, maps or similar services can set their own files, and that provider’s privacy rules then also apply, with objections made to that provider. Nzesportsbets does not set advertising cookies for personalised-ad profiles unless the banner clearly allows it.

Changing a choice

A choice is changed or withdrawn through the "Cookie settings" link in the footer, and a withdrawal works for the future. Browsers separately let a user block and delete cookies in privacy settings. When the necessary files are deleted the banner reappears, and some features may briefly stop working.

Complaints

A complaint about how personal information is handled can go to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. The privacy policy of this site describes the handling in more detail.
